Best Answer

The first Romans settled the area surrounding Palatine Hill, one of the traditional seven hills of Rome. Titus Livius Patavinus, Livy, the first century Roman historian wrote that the Sabines and the Albans settled the area before the 8th century BCE. Recent archaeological evidence supports this, and indicates that humans resided at the site since about 1,000 BCE.
