some of a few famous actors in the 1920's were Al Jolson who showed in the first movie with sound called "The Jazz Singer". Another was Charlie Chaplin who created the character called the Little Tramp.
Gloria Swanson, Douglas Fairbanks, Mary Pickford, Buster Keaton, Roscoe 'Fatty' Arbuckle, Harold Lloyd, Mickey Rooney, John Gilbert, Harry Langdon.
Katharine Hepburn Bette Davis Irene Dunn Ingrid Bergman Greer Garson Olivia de Havilland Joan Fontaine (Olivia's sister) Jennifer Jones Ethel Barrymore Barbara Stanwyck Judy Garland Rosalind Russell Joan Crawford
This is certainly a subjective area, but perhaps a short list of a few popular actors from the time will suffice: Bob Hope, Fred Astaire, Lawrence Olivier, Erroll Flynn, Bing Crosby, Gregory Peck, Robert Mitchum, Humphrey bogart, Mickey Rooney, Gary Cooper, Claude Rains.
Spencer Tracy, James Stewart, Burt Lancaster, Kirk Douglas, Marilyn Monroe, Katherine Hepburn, Audrey Hepburn, John Wayne, Audie Murphy, Elizabeth Taylor, Patricia Neal, Gary Cooper, Paul Newman, Montgomery Clift, Rock Hudson, James Dean
Clark Gable, James Stewart, Rita Hayworth, Mickey Rooney, Bette Davis, Judy Garland, Katherine Hepburn, Spencer Tracy, John Wayne, Ginger Rogers, Fred Astaire, Cary Grant, Myrna Loy, Humphrey Bogart, James Cagney, Joan Crawford.
So, with that out of the way, Cary Grant was only one of the famous stars in 1930s Hollywood, seen by many as the Golden Age of the movie studios. MGM claimed that they had "More stars than there are in heaven". Just look up a list of the oscar-winning films of the 1930s and you will see many, many familiar names: Joan Crawford, Greta Garbo, Clark Gable, Judy Garland, Mickey Rooney, and Vivian Leigh are just a few of these.
I only know one of them and that is Audrey Hepburn.

well the answer is, they aren't. Although many celebrities are actors and actresses not much of the actors and actresses are famous. for instance, very few theatre actors become famous. if you are a film actor your chances are higher but still slim. If they want to be famous many singers/actors/ect turn to tabloids to get them famous. Though, the reason they are famous other than that is mainly that if people like them they will win awards or be asked to be in more well-known films and people will become used to seeing their name or photograph.
