Lifton found Lieut Bird who led the HG but he had been badly wounded in Vietnam. General Wehle was in overall command.

∙ 11y agoI know at least one of them was Army. :) My great uncle, SMAJ Winston H. Faircloth, was one of the 110 honor guard at JFK's inauguration. I also read of another man who passed away the same year as my uncle (1999) who was in the same honor guard and was Army also. I don't know about the other 108 though. Sorry!

∙ 10y agoThere were many members of the honor guard. They were mainly hand picked, they had to be a specific height, and have a specific waist size. Their families were interviewed, old school teachers, etc. They were just your military personnel that excelled.
