The "Kamikaze" (translation: "divine wind) were a unit of the Imperial Japanese Air Force in WWII, formed as suicide squads late in the war and who flew their aircraft into Allied ships in order to wreak as much destruction as possible, hoping to halt the US invasion of the Japanese held islands in the Pacific Theater of operations.
