Jet Li only has two years of Shaolin training (unimpressive, since it takes 20 years to become proficient) and many years of wushu training. However, Tony Jaa knows aikido (which takes at least 8 years to be proficient in), Taekwondo, kung fu, and muay boran. Tony Jaa can fight in every phase of fighting because he is the most well rounded star alive. Jet Li only has chi na and strikes, so he doesn't stand a chance against a muay thai clinch. Few people know that muay thai has many grappling moves such as immobilizing an arm and kneeing the sternum! Just look at how wushu did against muay boran in The Protector, Johnny Nguyen, wushu champion, was totally beat by Tony Jaa! Wushu is just for show!

No. I am the biggest Tony Jaa fan you will find and he only does muay boran. Muay boran has four parts:

• Muay Thasao (North Thailand) - Emphasis on speed, especially fast kicks. This variation of Muay Boran was dubbed "Ling Lom" or windy monkey.

• Muay Korat (East Thailand) - Emphasis on strength. A technique unique to this style is the "throwing buffalo punch" named because it is supposed to take out a buffalo in one blow.

• Muay Lopburi (Central Thailand) - Emphasis on crafty, technical movements. This variation favours straight punches and hooks.

• Muay Chaiya (South Thailand) - Emphasis on good posture and defence. This style favours elbow and knee strikes.
