Less than a month after the Battle of Seven Pines, the Battle of Glendale took place on June 30, 1862, during the American Civil War. This engagement was part of the Seven Days Battles, where Union and Confederate forces clashed near Richmond, Virginia. Battle of Antietam
The Battle of Seven Pines, also known as the Battle of Fair Oaks, forced Union General George B. McClellan to retreat from near Richmond during the Peninsula Campaign in May 1862. The last battle was at Malvern Hill. The purpose was to relieve Richmond of the near proximity of Union forces.
