The Battle of Midway is by far in my opinion the most important in the Pacific. U.S. victory at Midway led to the destruction of the Japanese naval fleet.
Probably their most strategic decesion was to give off defensive and offensive attacks along France and Germany and still be able to defend the western fronteir with France pushing back the Germans, enabling them to have a crushing victory against Axis power.
The end of the War of 1812 was heralded by the American victory at New Orleans in January of 1815. While a peace treaty had already been signed in December of 1814, news had not yet reached the combatants. Yet, with this decisive victory in hand, the Americans could be assured that the terms of the treaty, ratified by Congress in February of 1815, would be duly upheld by the British.

During the War of 1812, most of the battles that occurred took place on the continent of North America in lands possessed by the United States, such as Washington, D.C., and New Orleans. Some conflicts were naval in nature, whether offshore America or in the waters around Great Britain.

The U.S. Navy's small fleet several battles in the beginning of the war but the most important U.S. naval victory took place on Lake Erie. In September 1813, a British force on the lake set out to attack American ships. Oliver Hazard Perry led the American forces. The two sides sides exchanged cannon shots for two hours. After Perry's ship was demolished, he rowed to another ship and took charge. He then went on to win the battle.
