coz castles were smelly, orrible, drafty, cold and horrible places to live. also when the castles were being attacked the enemies thought that the king would be there but he wasn't. which gave him time to get away
Most castles were rather small, and the maids and servants did not live in them because there was no room. In such cases, they would have lived in houses nearby, either in a village or on a manor. In fact, most lords who had castles did not live in them, but in a nearby manor. Larger castles which had baileys, or central courtyards, had all sorts of things in the baileys, including shops, stables, storage areas, and so on. Servants who lived in castles would probably have occupied buildings in the baileys when the castle was being used. But again, even the large castles tended to be less comfortable than manors, so the servants would tend to live where the lords were, in manor houses nearby.
No Julius Caesar did not live in a castle. Castles were not built during his lifetime. Castles were not built until 1066.
