No, Miyamoto Musashi never lost a duel and according to his book of five rings, he fought in over sixty separate "comparisons of style" and six battles. There were two occasions where he either nearly lost or the match was declared a draw- the first of these occasions was while he was fighting a man named Shishido who was a master with the Kusarigama (a long sickle attached to a length of chain with a weighted end) Shishido succesfully disarmed Musashi and was moving in to finish him off when suddenly Musashi drew his Wakazashi and hurled it at Shishido, piercing his chest. The second occasion was between Musashi and a man named Muso Gonnosuke, the first battle between the two resulted in an easy victory for Musashi, but the second which happened sometime later would result in the only true "draw" in Musashis recorded history. After being defeated the first time Muso went away to meditate, train and ponder over his defeat at the hands of Musashi, he had a dream where he saw a pond that reflected the moon in it's center and a log fell into the pond directly where the moon was. He took the log to symbolise a Jo (five foot staff) and the moon in the pond to symbolise the center of his opponents chest. After that he developed a style known as shindo muso-ryu which is still taught to this day. It was with this style that he managed to draw with the man who to this day is still perhaps the most influential and powerful swordsman to ever live.

Natural talent is not the have all, end all, and be all of any combat skill, work actually matters more, a lot more in fact. Through work alone, a person with no talent will indeed drop a talented lazy one. So where am I going with this? If you stink at Boxing, you are looking at some long-ass hours in the gym. However I am not one of those people who will tell you "give up, you suck; if you are not the lead dog, the view never changes" people, because, let me say right off the bat those people are all retards. Any hard enough work, will yield results, talent or no. However life is short, Musashi said, so its best to stick with things you are good at. If because of circumstance though you have no choice but to fight, and you stink at fighting........better clear your schedule, and set up those 14 hour training days, and if you need money, heavy labor jobs are the best thing there is for Boxing. Your job will make you strong, and give you punching power.
