The first book of this title to be written was by Survivor Colonel Archibald Gracie, an American army veteran and real-estate investor who testified at the Official Enquiry and wrote a chronology of the hearing later on 1912- it was the first book about the disaster to be published, coming out the following year.

Sadly, he never recovered from the disaster, suffering from complications brought on by hypothermia as a result of his time in the freezing water. He did not live to see the year out- soon after completing the script of his book, he died of a Diabetes-related illness on 4th December 1912. He was 53 years old, childless and unmarried- he lies buried in Woodville Cemetery in The Bronx district of New York City.

Other books of the same title may have come out since then, but they aren't as well known and I'm unsure of their authors.
