They found out what was in the area, that there was no route to the Pacific, and opened the land for settlements and eventually statehood.
The immediate cause of the rebellion was Governor William Berkeley's refusal to retaliate for a series of Native American raids on frontier settlements. In addition, many colonists wished to claim Indian frontier land, but they were denied by Gov. Berkeley.

Most of the French settlements were men who were traders and accepted the natives. But the English settlements focused on families developing the land and basically wanted to enslave the natives.

In 1763 there was an Ottawa leader who's name was Pontiac. The British(English) were taking up lots of land (Native American land) and the Ottawa decided to stop helping them and rebel them. They had a signed petition, but the petition wasn't approved so the British kept taking Native land. Pontiac said, "seeks only to destory us". And of course the rebellion led to war sooner or later. Native Americans attaked British forts and their settlements in the Ohio River Valley and near the Great Lakes. This certain war was known as Pontiac's Rebellion.
Bacon's Rebellion was a rebellion of freed former indentured white servants in 1676 led by Nathaniel Bacon. They did not have land, and so were pushed into the untamed countryside to find land. Virginia's governor at the time, William Berkeley, had friendly policies towards the Native Americans. The freed men were angry over the governor's refusal to retaliate Native American attacks on the frontier settlements, and attacked the Native Americans themselves before burning the capitol of Virginia and chasing Berkeley away. Bacon died suddenly of disease, and the rebellion fell apart, with over 20 rebels being hanged by Berkeley.
