If the same experiment produces the same results in different environments, then the scientist knows that the results are sound. However, if the results are different in different places, then it may be an environmental factor of the laboratory that is affecting the outcome. Repeating the experiment in different environments allows scientists to either confirm or rule out this possibility.

Scientists conduct experiments either in the real world or in a natural setting. Laboratory experiments can show similar results while the experiments conducted in the field can have different results. Laboratory experiments have internal validity while field experiments have external validity. To see whether their hypothesis is right or wrong they conduct the experiments either in the laboratory or in the field.
