When did tin foil change to aluminum foil and why?

Aluminium foil replaced tin foil immediately after World War II because aluminum is: easier to work (manufacture into usable artifacts), more plentiful in the Earth's crust (and therefore cheaper to produce and cheaper for YOU to buy), and has qualities that are deemed more useful.

Can you use aluminium in a grill?

no. As Aluminium is a very soft metal having low melting point. So it can be easily damaged by a saw or a gas cutter.ANS2:Many good quality grills have aluminum components. Aluminum is lighter and less prone to corrosion than steel and cheaper than stainless steel. Enameled or Teflon(r) coated cast aluminum grills (the food-contact part, that is) clean easily and are easy to handle. If you line the firebox of a grill with aluminum foil you will extend the life of the grill and make cleaning up ash and grease easier. Some studies indicate a relationship between aluminum and Alzheimer's. For that reason and because it prevents air flow, it is probably better to not wrap the grilling surface with aluminum foil....and, as pointed out in the first answer, don't clean your aluminum grill with a saw or gas cutter.

How would the half life equation of aluminum be balanced differently?

Not exactly sure what you mean about "aluminum's half life equation." Exponential decay, from where we get the half-life equation from, has nothing to do with mass, atomic number, etc... and therefore has nothing to do with any particular isotope.

Why is silicon-based life more likely to occur than neon-based life and aluminum-based life?

Silicon is very common in the universe and is shares almost all the qualities of carbon.

How much aluminum is used to create each can?

A big cost in making aluminum from bauxite ore is the extraction by heat. Aluminium scrap (cans and old lawn chairs) already has "paid" this cost and only the common costs of melting an extruding left which are also there for "ne" aluminum.

How To Cook With Aluminum Foil?

Aluminum is one of the most useful types of metal in the world. When thick, it can be extremely sturdy and can support large amounts of weight. When used in foil form, it can serve hundreds of different functions from arts and crafts to grilling vegetables. Aluminum foil is nowhere more at home than it is with cooking, and there are so many applications of aluminum foil in the culinary arts that it can be dizzying. Learning how to cook correctly with aluminum foil can make you a better cook, and usually has the distinct benefit of making your life as a cook much easier. Many people use aluminum foil as their standard cooking base when using the oven or broiler. Aluminum foil is prized for broiling especially because it does not stick to food and can resist extremely high temperatures. The most common way to broil food using aluminum foil is to place it directly on the rack in the oven just a few inches below the broiler and place the food on top. After you are done cooking, carefull remove the foil while keeping the food intact. Aluminum foil is useful in this application in that it repels heat and usually does not get very hot under the broiler. That said, you should always use caution when dealing with a hot oven. Aluminum foil is also extremely useful when it comes to grilling applications. Grilling with aluminum foil can save you a ton of time and energy once you learn how to do so correctly. One of the best ways to use aluminum foil in grilling is to make a pouch out of it and fill it with vegetables. By just throwing the pouch on the grill, you’ll come up with a beautiful pouch full of perfectly cooked vegetables in under twenty minutes. Many people like to even serve the vegetables straight out of the foil by opening the pouch at the dinner table. Learning to use aluminum foil correctly is a skill, and is part of every great chef’s arsenal. Use it to your advantage and you will inevitably become a better and more relaxed cook.

Why is the mineral aluminum important?

Aluminum is used to make planes. It is lightweight, yet sturdy, so the plane won't use a lot of gas but has enough protection. When aluminum comes in contact with air, a thin protective layer forms on the aluminum.

Is smoking marijuana out of aluminum foil bad for you If Yes How?

I used to smoke out of aluminum foil two times a day for about 4 or 5 months. People will say that it isn't bad because the aluminum wont be released at the temperature of a regular butane lighter. However with repeated use of the foil, it becomes black and brittle, and eventually breaks and the bowl will fall through. My conclusion is that yes it is bad for you, because the aluminum will never leave your lungs throughout your entire life. So i think if you've been smoking out of aluminum foil on a daily basis for one month, you don't have much to worry about. but if you've been going at it for half a year, you will have serious deposits of aluminum in your lungs that will never leave throughout your entire life and have the potential to shorten your life by more than 50 years. Aluminum in the lungs is linked to a higher incidence of COPD, i can confirm this because i am 17 years old and was spitting up blood everyday before i quit smoking marijuana and cigarettes, and i have COPD. Just think about your lungs, now think about them covered in aluminum. Not a very appetizing thought. In my opinion alzheimer's is not what you should be worrying about, you should be worrying about whether you will live to even get alzheimers. Ocassional use of aluminum foil shouldn't be a problem, but everyday use can and will make you die early. It is something that i regret more than anything else in my life, don't make the same mistake.
