Why 2000 Chevy astro has hard time turning on in damp weather?

My astro did this and eventally it stoped running when it was damp. It was the distributer cap, located in the dog house. I was told that the moisture build up and eventually it just gives out. Pretty cheap and easy fix. Good luck.
