Why AM is used to transmit picture iv TV?

There is no real reason. In the UK's old analogue system AM was used for picture and FM used for sound. In France they used the opposite system, FM for picture and AM for sound.

Everything is going digital now, so does not apply, the RF signal is a FSK data signal.
