Because you have delete or format partions which were used by Vista. Sometimes it's not that easy how it can sound. Better delete and then create, and format it again. If you are using Windows XP installation CD it has all required utilities. If you are using Linux based CD you might have to find additional utilities. If you have more specific questions you are welcome to ask.
Yes, you can delete windows 7 by formatting your drive, but all of your files will be gone. If you have two hard drives, you can either copy your data from one drive to the other or put xp/vista on the second one and use the windows 7 drive as a slave.
Of course you can reformat and repartition a vista computer. Most of the cases that has come to me is of laptop and in this case one has to keep in mind before formatting/repartition is that the second partition [d:\] contains all the drivers- audio, video, modem etc. one can repartition without formatting also.
We want to know about mathletics delete tasks not "Vista??"
If your harddrive is toast, then you will need to have the OS installed anew on the new harddrive. So you can just use your existing Vista disks to reinstall your copy of Vista on the new drive.
reformat the computer.

yes, if you are using windows vista all you have to do is go to my computer, recovery (D:) (click on that) then there shold be a file that has your computer name.. mine being CHRIS-PC. chose that and scrool through the files listed... delete files you don't need or you don't use anymore. and that should free up some space on your recovery.
If the computer with Vista doesn't have a floppy disk drive, you won't be able to. You could, however, open the document on another computer and then save it to a CD or portable disk drive. Then you should be able to upload it onto the computer with Vista (if the computer with Vista has a Word program installed. But even if the computer with Vista doesn't have Word installed, you can still upload it, but you won't be able to view it.)
You would have to download the vista os and install it from a USB storage device, FireWire from another computer or you could use a virtual drive From the computer you want vista on if you partition the hard drive. I'm assuming you want to replace the current os on a computer or fix a broken version do I would say the easiest way is to torrent vista and put it on a portable drive or a disk
to delete absolutely everything on your computer hard drive (aka memory storage) click on start, go to my computer (or computer for vista users) then right click on your drive then click on format. make sure that quick format is un-ticked then click on ok. Basically the best way to delete everything in the computer just disable the file software, open the local c or d thru installer folder right click the mouse nor uninstall the application file or go to add and remove in to computer panel icon delete you want to delete and usual idea just reformat the computer to able to refresh the hardware condition of the computer and it absolutely empty.
Sometimes before to install vista you have to delete all partitions on your hard drive. Such brand like HP, Dell and so on have special restore partitions on theis laptops and desktops. Also these special partitions protect MBR sector from viruses. To install vista you have to delete such partition(s).
