An analogy can help you understand it. But to understand that analogy you must know basic geometry.
Following is the analogy:
In order to draw a circle with a compass you need to put one end of a compass on a point (called center) and then rotate the other end around it. The rotating end draws the circle. The circle is usually visible since mostly people put a pencil on that end.
But if you had the pencils on both end and you have finished drawing your circle.
The circle will appear to your view but as soon as you lift the compass you will also see the center.
What will you think.

It appeared last but it was thought of first. You could not have been able to draw a circle without the center.
