When the Australians and the New Zearlander's arrived in Egypt they were mainly based in Cairo. They began training for the western front but instead set sail for gallipoli on the 25th of April 1915. British commander bird-wood created the Anzac's( Australian New Zealand Army Corps ). officers enjoyed dances with nurses and soldiers were able to spend money on food and services and create a reputation in Egypt that is still remembered, in Egypt( not always for "good" reasons" ).
