The internet connection needs to be made before the connection to the computer the router goes between the broadband and the computer. Try a wired connection with a purchase of an ethernet cable that goes from the back of the PS3 to the router or modem. A wired connection works best with the PS3 so that it doesn't have to maintain a wireless signal. Try using your connection without the router or computer and then adding them after your PS3 has already been connected. Just plug an Ethernet cable into the back of the modem and the Back of the PS3. After that works add the router between the modem and the PS3 and finally plug in the PC into the back of the router. You really don't have to do it this way but it will allow you to gain confidence that the problem was never with the PS3 and just your setting up of the connection.

Sure you have connection at both ends of the cables.
