Wales has basically always been part of the UK (Britain) as it is land locked to England. It was Henry VII (Henry VII was born at Pembroke Castle on 28 January 1457) who pushed for Wales to be part of his monarchy as he was Welsh.

The Irish felt that they wanted to be a separate country to Britain as its lands were being taken by rich English land owners
