I live in Calamba, Rizal's town in Laguna, Philippines. Their house was/is situated on the town proper. It's relatively a house of the rich people of their time. Much I can say is that, Rizal belonged to a wealthy family but chose to fight for freedom for his country - a rare quality for a rich man.

His name is JOSE PROTACIO RIZAL MERCADO Y ALONSO REALONDA. He was born on June 19, 1861 in Calamba, Laguna. He died on December 30, 1896. He was the man who fought the Spaniards through his writings.
The first person to translate "Mi Ultimo Adios" by Jose Rizal into Tagalog was Dominador Gomez. He translated the poem in 1911.
