Oxygen does not react more slowly than all of the halogens, just some of them. Plus, the rate of a reaction depends on its nature, not just whether oxygen or a halogen reacts. when the halogens do react faster, this is because they only need one electron to have a stable configuration, whereas oxygen needs two.

What was the most active nonmetal?

Halides are the most active nonmetals on the periodic table because it has high electronegativity. Meaning it is more likely to attract an electron towards itself to react.

Nothing At all

Do chemicals packed together tightly react more slowly?

No

Which group do alkali metals bond with?

Alkali metals are electropositive so they want to react with halogens which are more electronegative.

Is it true that the more oxygen you need the more slowly you breathe?

False, the more oxygen you need the faster you will breathe.

Why do yeast cells consume glucose much more slowly if oxygen is present than absent?

why do yeast cells consume glucose much more slowly when oxygen is present than when oxygen is absent

Do the halogens react with the alkali metals why or why not?

The electron configuration is why they react. The Alkali metals have one electron in their outer shell and to complete their outer shell need 7 more electrons. They can give, take or share electrons with other atoms. This is when the Halogens come in handy. The Halogens have 7 electrons in their outer shells, and need one more to complete the outer shell. These can react very easily because they have both the perfect amounts to fill their outer shells and become compounds. Other atoms with other amounts to become atoms not ions needs another element to react with. Hope this helps, Matt.

What chemical properties does lead have?

Lead is a moderately active metal. It dissolves slowly in water and in most cold acids. It reacts more rapidly with hot acids. It does not react with oxygen in the air readily and does not burn.

What is more reactive oxygen or selenium?

Oxygen. Oxygen is a gas making it react faster, while sulfur is a solid.

Why does magnesium burn more in oxygen that in air?

First off, it doesn't burn more, it burns quicker. This is because It's reacting with the oxygen, and in a 100% oxygen environment there's simply more oxygen to react with (the air is 21% oxygen).

Is it true of false that the more oxygen you need the more slowly you breath?

False. The more oxygen you need, the more quickly you breathe. That is whit your breathe faster when you exercise.

What has a reaction to oxygen?

The question has almost endless answers as FAR more compounds of all kinds, react with oxygen than do not.
