TEM modes (Transverse ElectroMagnetic) have no electric nor magnetic field in the direction of propagation. In hollow waveguides (single conductor), TEM waves are not possible, since Maxwell's Equations will give that the electric field must then have zero divergence and zero curl and be equal to zero at boundaries, resulting in a zero field. TEm is only suported in tx lines with 2 or more conductors like the coax.

In waveguides where there is only one conductor TEM cant exist since the surface becomes equipotential i.e. sttaic potential in the region becomes 0 or constant

this is because for conductor E parallel is zero this means that the surface of the wave guide is at equipotential and this potential follow the laplace equation .it means that there is no maxima and minima inside the wave guide . this means that the electric field inside zero . hence the TEM do not exist in wave guide only TE and TM can be exist . if we place some conductor in the wave guide then the conductor inside will not be equipotential and the TEM waves can be exist . like in Coaxial cables

What is difference between Rectangular Waveguide and Circular Waveguide?

Rectangular waveguide and circular waveguide are metal hollow structure used to guide EM waves. Depending upon their shapes they are classified as rectangular or circular. They are basically a passive microwave device and acts like a High Pass Filter. Rectangular waveguide : It is the earliest kind of the transmission lines. It supports supports TM and TE modes. It does not support TEM waves because it has only one conductor and cannot define a unique voltage. Conductor is filled with a material that has material with permittivity e and permeability m. Cutoff wavelength equation for is define below. Ξ»c = 2/ Here, m= number of half-wave along broad side dimension, N= number of half-wave along the shorter side. Circular Waveguide: It maintains a uniform circular cross section along their length. The cutoff frequency is unique for a specific waveguide mode that is assumed to be propagating in a waveguide of a given diameter and determines the lower frequency of the waveguide’s operating frequency range. The cutoff frequency is calculated using the following formula:

The waves which cannot be transmitted in waveguide are?

The Transverse electromagnetic(TEM) wave cannot be transmitted within a wave guide.

How is a cube and a rectangular alike?

They are not - mainly because there is no such thing as a rectangular. "Rectangular" is an adjective, not a noun and therefore a rectangular, by itself, cannot exist. They are not - mainly because there is no such thing as a rectangular. What is the sum of interior angles of a rectangular pentagon with eight sides?

You cannot have a rectangular perntagon. A rectangular shape cannot have eight sides. A pentagon cannot have eight sides. Consequently, this question cannot be answered.

What wave can not propagate in vacuum?

Sound waves cannot propagate in vacuum. Air is needed for sound waves to travel and there is no air in vacuum.

What is the diameter of a rectangular field of 1km?

A rectangular shape cannot have a diameter, which is a characteristic of a circle.

How many edges does a rectangular triangle have?

A rectangular triangle is an oxymoron! A triangle cannot be rectangular and no rectangular shape can be a triangle. The two words contradict each other.

Why can a supernova be seen in outerspace but not heard?

Because empty space cannot propagate sound.

Are the triangles on the rectangular pyramid equal?

No, they cannot be.

How do you find the area of one rectangular triangular?

You cannot because there is no object. Both "rectangular" and "triangular" are adjectives, there is no noun! Rectangular, triangular what? The question is like asking how tall is the broad green? What is the formula for finding the dimensions of a rectangular?

The word "rectangular" is an adjective, not a noun. So, a "rectangular" cannot exist. The question is like asking for the dimensions of a blue. What you need to do is specify rectangular WHAT! A rectangular pyramid, a rectangular prism, a rectangular dipyramid or some other shape.

What is one place sound waves cannot travel?

Sound waves cannot travel in space. Sound waves some medium in order to propagate.
