Why Usb3.0 host can't connect usb2.0 device with usb3.0 cable?

Based on the cable I have seen, the configuration of a USB 3.0 cable on the computer side is similar to any other USB1.0 or USB2.0 cable. The configuration of the USB3.0 cable on the device side is significantly different and is designed not to plug into a USB1.0 or USB2.0 device. Wikipedia has a really good write-up.
