Children who are sick might prefer to stay in a quiet area, rather than making the effort, or feeling as though they should, interact with other children. A quiet area is also a place where children can talk to or read with an educator.

Quiet areas allow an individual child or small group of children to read; talk; play a special game; interact with nature; or quietly observe a play group before attempting to join in.

Because not every child will want to be active all the time. Including a quiet area allows children to take a nap if they want to.

Not all children want to play or socialise ALL the time !.... A 'quiet' area lets a child relax, and maybe have a short nap.
