It is not hard to blow into, in terms of how hard to blow into the Saxophone, but it is hard to produce a good tone on any saxophone (more so the Soprano Saxophone). Some people get it quickly some don't, the only cure is practise, practise, practise...

∙ 13y agoyou may have something in the horn, or the valves are in wrong. clean the Trumpet, and check the valves, and if that doesn't work go to a professional

∙ 13y agoYou probably aren't covering the bottom three holes completely. Try playing in a mirror and look at those fingers.

most people would go to alto sax first... it's smaller... and easier... if u already know what buttons to push... how hard to blow... or what reed to use (and of course the notes)... u would be fine with a tenor... but for me.. (id rather go with yamaha...) :D hope it helped!!!

Look in a book or online for the fingerings. Not hard to find. Blow FASTER air. Don't try to blow hard or with more pressure. Firm your mouth (not sharp nor flat, just firm). That will help.

I'm an experienced cello player so how difficult is it to learn the saxophone?
The saxophone is an medium instrument to learn but because you have a back ground in the Cello the Saxophone will be a little easier. The only hard thing about learning the Saxophone is the mouth position and playing the notes.
Is clarinet easier or harder than the alto saxophone?
I did not find the switch from clarinet to alto sax hard. The middle register on the clarinet is the same as both registers on the saxophone except for C and C#. The difference between the clarinet being in Bb and the alto sax being in Eb will not be a problem unless you are transposing clarinet music to Eb sax.
