Why and how did Michelangelo get into art?

As a child, Michelangelo attended Latin School and studied painting in the workshop of the Ghirlandaio brothers and sculpture with Bertoldo. By age 15, he had attracted the attention of Lorenzo de'Medici and was invited to join the writers, scholars, and artists who frequented the Medici palace. Following this time, he began his career as a sculptor in Rome.
