Because they're afraid President Obama will outlaw the purchase of handguns in the near future.
Forever.
Like MOST of the US States, there is no requirement or mechanism to register ordinary firearms with anyone in Arkansas. When buying a gun from a Dealer, the Dealer must maintain a record of the sale for 20 years at the shop.
Since Texas does not HAVE registration of ordinary firearms (same as most states), there ARE no firearms "in your name". Dealers maintain a record at their shop of guns you bought from them- for a period of 20 years.
Persons having a misdemeanor record are not prohibited from purchasing firearms
No you cannot. That offense like other criminal activity will remain on your record.
An expungement basically means the charges and convictions are treated as if they didn't happen. Exact laws will vary depending on where you live, so get a lawyer to tell you exactly what happens, but it should mean you can ignore that charge for the purpose of buying firearms. Actually, expungement means it is removed from your public record. Law enforcement agencies can still access the information, and it will sometimes (depending on the circumstances) cause a problem when purchasing a gun.

We must avoid buying on tips from friends and also avoid buying large numbers in one shot.
