Red: The blood of Jesus Christ, who was born on Christmas and died when he was 33 and was resurrected 3 days later and is now in Heaven.
White: Snow and the purity of Jesus, who never sinned.
Green: Evergreen trees; they are usually used as Christmas trees.
Red and green became Christmas colors because of the plants that bloom around Christmas time. Poinsettias and Christmas cactus both bloom red and of course snow is white. The white, red, and green are the traditional colors of Christmas.
There are no traditional colors for Hanukkah. But because of Influence by Christmas (namely the fact the Christmas has traditional colors), Jewish people took the colors of the Israeli Flag (blue and white) and made them Hanukkah colors. But this practice is only about 40 years old.
