DNA is made up of chromosomes. A chromosome is a single piece of coiled DNA. You get one chromosome from your mother and one from your father. If you get an x and a y chromosome then you are a boy, and if you get two x chromosomes, you are a girl.

What is the difference between cytidine in DNA and cytidine in RNA?

Cytidine is composed of one molecule each of cytosine and ribose. The cytosine molecule is the same between DNA and RNA, the difference is in the sugar backbone. In RNA it is ribose while in DNA it is deoxyribose.

How can you tell the difference between the original and replicated part of each chromosome?

In late anaphase and G1 of interphase, a chromosome is unreplicated and consists of a single DNA double helix. A replicated chromosome contains two identical DNA double helices.

Where in a cell are prokaryotic chromosomes found?

The region of the cytoplasm containing the DNA is called the nucleoid. The term "nucleus" is not appropriate, as there is no nuclear membrane. In bacteria there is a single chromosome, except in the interval between DNA replication and cell division. The chromosome is called circular, meaning that there are no free ends; the DNA molecule is in a loop.
