Why are Fire-Fighters helmet made of fiberglass and not from metal?

Fiberglass is an insulator, and protects the firefighter's head from the intense heat in a burning building. Metal, on the other hand, conducts heat rather well and will heat up significantly in a burning building, possibly causing burns.
Fiberglass helmets are also very strong and can take being hit by falling objects without crushing or breaking. Most metals are also strong, but due to the fact that they would conduct heat, they are not used.
