Muslims are no better or worse than other human beings simply for being Muslims. Whether Muslims are good or bad people is contingent on whether, as individuals, they are law-abiding or law-breaking citizens, just like any other group of people.

Muslims often believe that they are the best people on Earth because the Qur'an explicitly labels them as such in 3:110. However, such a view, while common, is overly simplistic. The verse clarifies that the title of the best people is bestowed on Muslims because they do what is good and forbid that which is bad, meaning that Muslims are only the best people to the extent that they behave morally, which accords with the understanding common to Non-Muslims.
