Why are Skittles packages the color that they are?

Because they prefer to have a packet made up of 90% yellow ones.

They were created in 1974, a blue fruit was probably not as popular back then, such as a Blueberry. They probably just picked a selected 5 flavours that were easily made.

It rly late to answer this but the real reason is because it was difficult to obtain blue dye when skittles were first made, not to mention that it was very unsafe to eat the blue dye that was available, so they just stuck with the colors they had
