Animals are being extinct at the north pole because of polar bears warm fur, whales tough skin and oil, walrus and sharks eating penguins, and fishes being eaten. There are many reasons why these poor animals are being extinct.
One of the main reasons for the extinction of many species in Arctic and Antarctic regions is that they are being hunted by man. Man poses more of a danger than other animals, which are simply part of the natural food chain.
Cows
Some animals that are now extinct in the North Pole region include the woolly mammoth and the scimitar cat. These species succumbed to climate change and changes in their habitat over thousands of years.

Very few animals live at the North Pole. Less than 0.01% of species.
Mostly for camouflage, both for the prey and hunter!Incidentally, there are no animals at the North Pole. The North Pole is a floating ice shelf incapable of supporting life; quite different to the Arctic, where there are many plants and animals.
