Why is apple so overpriced?

Macs tend to be more expensive than PCs in the short term, but are really a great value. When using a PC, a new version of Windows usually means a new computer, but macs are very future-proof and can will continue to run for at least 5 years before becoming outdated. Macs also come with a one year limited warranty with 90 day phone support. This means, if you ever have any problems, help is only a phone call away. This warranty and phone can both be extended for 3 years for under $170. Macs also eliminate the need for a paid virus detecting software.

Because unlike Windows, Apple and Apple alone builds the Apple computer. Windows does not build computers they only create software. Therefore there are many Windows computers that are cheap. They all may use the Windows OS but the cheap computers contain cheap parts. Apple does not build cheap bargain computers. When you compare a well built Windows Laptop to a comparable Apple Laptop there is very little difference in price. Remember you get exactly what you pay for.

You get what you pay for? Seriously, if you spec out a similar PC from a name manufacturer, you won't find so much of a price difference. Where you can save money is if you are willing to buy from a bargain brand, or strip out some of the hardware you don't need. That's something you can't do with a Mac. And of course, you save a ton by buying memory from anyone other than Apple and installing it yourself.
