There is a huge, on-going debate about when people first populated North America and where they came from. A "traditional" view holds that the Clovis people were the first Indians. They were here roughly 10,000 years ago. The Meadowcroft site yielded some unexpected results ... very old dates (much older than 10k years) that were used to support other alternative theories about pre-clovis settling of the Americas.
