acids are so reactive because of the type of chemical they are. if it was an alkali then it would be lest reactive to metals like magnesium.

Several corrosive acids are: hydrogen fluoride, nitric acid, sulfuric acid, hydrogen chloride, trichloroacetic acid etc. Corrosive acids can attack other materials, specially metals.
