Cells are always microscopic why?

The current thinking is that, as cells become larger, the volume increases faster than the surface area. Doubling the volume will double the number of metabolic reactions, but since the surface area only increases by 1.414, the cell has difficulty taking in food and ejecting waste products via diffusion through its surface. In other words, only a microscopic cell can have a large enough outer surface to avoid strangling on waste products, and larger cells would die.

Alas, this is a rather philosophical question, for the term "microscopic" is rather

relative. To humans, it is microscopic because it is too small to see, which makes

sense since said cells make up what we use to perceive them (our eyes, for

example). Not all cells are microscopic by this definitional, however. For example

there are some single-celled organisms that can be perceived with the naked eye.

(Also, don't forget about eggs ... from Robins' to Chickens' to Ostriches'. Each egg

is a single cell.)

As a cell's size increases, its Area to Volume ratio decreases. Because the ability of a cell to exchange substance with its environment is based on its surface area and pores of its membrane, if a cell gets too big in size, it will not be able to exchange the sufficient nutrients needed for the entire cell. It just so happens that the size necessary for this balance is in microscopic proportions.

cell is the basic unit of life that which is we are made up of we need a light microscope to see this type of cells because it is micro in size and can not be seen with the naked eye

it is microscopic because it is very small so a naked eye can't see it without an microscope.

hope it helped :)
