Its because the crop has been fertilized by one of your neighbors. Make sure you harvest it as soon as you can, you get more XP's and points for fertilized crops.
When fertilized crops are fully grown they will give you more XP. The fertilizing feature is now available to everyone however you can only fertilize your neighbors farms after completing a friend mission and the fertilizer can only be used on 5 crops that are partially grown or under 90% grown.
