Anemia - healthy kidneys produces erythropoietin (EPO) a hormone which stimulates the bone marrow to produce Red Blood Cell which carries oxygen to different parts of the body. In diseased kidney, the production of EPO is reduced thus, production of RBC at the bone marrow is also reduced. During dialysis there is blood loss which may contribute to Low RBC and the routine blood samples.
Osteoporosis - healthy kidney balances the calcium and phosphorus level in the blood. the calcium is reabsorb by the kidney and being deposited in our bones. excess phosphorus on the other hand is being excreted by the kidneys. but when your kidney are not functioning well, the balance of the two, will be disrupted, thus there will be an increase level of phosphorus in the blood stream. to lower its level, calcium from the bone will be extracted to balance the phosphorus. thus making the bone brittle and prone to osteoporosis.
An increased risk of stomach cancer has been noted in patients with pernicious anemia
Trimetazidine can cause kidney dysfunction, so dialysis patients should not take it, especially not unless directed by ba physician. It is also contraindicated for patients at risk of developing Parkinson's disease and patients taking MAOI drugs.
1- high risk for infection related to using the equipments of dialysis. 2-
They are at risk for Osteoporosis.
Osteoporosis is the thinning of bones. Older females are more at risk, as well as smokers. Some medications may also increase the risk of having osteoporosis.
Osteoporosis is a disease that increases bone weakness, and increases the risk of a broken bone.
On June 13th, 2013, the FDA approved the drug Denosumab to increase bone mass in patients with giant cell tumor of bones and osteoporosis at high risk of fracture.
Yes
It depends on a lot of factors: older females with a family history of osteoporosis, are a particular high risk group. There is an on-line risk assessment questionnaire, which I'll link below.
Because there is a great deal of blood exposure involved in dialysis treatment, a slight risk of contracting hepatitis B and hepatitis C exists
Osteoporosis is basically a severe loss of bone density.
Any bloodloss will put a patient at risk for anemia, which is a loss of iron related to the loss of hemoglobin that carries iron and oxygen.
