When people think of dinosaurs, they usually think of the mesozoic ones like T.rex, Triceratops and Velociraptor.

There was a mass extinction about 65 million years ago which caused the extinction of many dinosaur groups.

It's a common misconception that all dinosaurs went extinct at this time. Animal groups and species go extinct regularly, and the same is true for dinosaurs.

The Stegosaur group, for example, seemed to go extinct long before the end of the mesozoic.

Also, one dinosaur group did survive the mass extinction, the birds. There are still here today and doing quite well. There are twice as many bird species alive today than there are mammals.

So that means that dinosaurs are not extinct and therefore ARE still around.
