They are said to self harm, because they are suposedly quite deep dark people, who express themselves. But practically no emos self harm, they either say they do for attention, or people asume they do. I have nothing against emos themselves, im sure they're very cool people. But i definitely don't agree with the whole 'emo' cult. They could quite possibly be offending those who suffer from depression, because they're not depressed themselves, but make out they're going to kill themselves. They have made self harm into a fashion statement, personality, and a stereotype when it is infact a real, serious matter. Believe me i know, and I'm not an emo, i appear 'normal' and am quite a happy, funny person. (When around people). An emo is no more likely to harm themself, than anyone else is. If they were really so depressed that they would end there life, they wouldn't be in school showing of there choice of clothing that day. When the chavs came along, they accused the emos of being sad, the goths did it too, but accused them of being cheap inpressions of them, then the punks said they were loners, that tried to be like them. Emos could do nothing about it, since the 3 main labels had ganged up on them. There is no recorded time when the emos started abusing themselves, maybe when they started coming about in the year 2004.
