For natural, as nature intended, plants, no-one knows details for absolute certain but it is part of attracting pollinators. This is more complicated than it sounds as many flowers are "coloured" and patterned very differently to what we humans see if you view them in the UV or IR spectrum - many insects can see UV and IR.
