Why are fossils found around the UK?

Because of the wide variety of sedimentary rocks found around the UK.

If you look in the right places you can find late Precambrian through to Oligocene fossils.

At various times the land which now makes up the UK has been in the Southern Hemisphere, on the equator, at different sides of a big ocean, part of a desert and a land of volcanoes.
