because long ago when dinosaurs died their bodies left a type of oil. now we use that oil as gasoline. which runs our cars, stoves, and etc. basically anything that uses gasoline is using fossil fuels. fossil fuels is the only fuel we have, so it will be that one day it will be gone. but, do not worry we have got lots but, the problem is that if we misuse them then we will eventually lose it all. scientists have developed ways so we don't use fossil fuels. ex. solar energy, water running engine and etc. we could develop the same fuels from our bodies too but, it will take a really long time, approx. a few thousand years! hoped this helped!
