Well number 1 because they are made of taters (potatoes) and number 2 because they have salt on them. Number 3 because they get coated in lots of yummy french fry oils.

Does prepared french fries have sodium in them?

It depends. The source of sodium for French Fries is salt, because otherwise the French Fry is just made of potatoes. So as long as you eat fries without salt, then you're good.

Why were fries once called freedom fries in America?

From what I know it's because most Americans don't like the French. So instead of calling them "French fries" (although French fries were not invented in France) we called them Freedom fries. The name was changed as part of an idiotic propaganda campaign.Fries were always called French fries in America. until George Bush decided that it was necessary to attack Iraq. He attempted to enlist the aid of the United nations in this adventure. The French did not want the UN to be involved in a war of aggression and voted against the proposal. American interests were so annoyed by this that they changed the name of French Fries to freedom fries in protest. So besides not becoming involved in a pointless war the French also got a good laugh out of it.

Fries originate from what country?

Fries are short for "French Fries", so i would think that they came from France... =p It is my understanding that the "French" in french fries refers to the shape and style of the cut of the potato when making them, not with their country of origin.

Are french fries processed food?

French fries are both. You have processed fries, and you have natural cut fries. Processed fries go through many processes and machinery to get as good tasting as they are. Natural cut fries are just sliced and put in the oven, such as Wendy's fries or home fries.

Why are french fries call chips?
