It depends on the god, they could be giving or greedy but it all depends on the god you speak of. I'd imagine they're selfish and greedy because they have more power and having so much power gets to the head and you use is as an advantage in life to get what you want.

Sort of, it was more like he was the head of a really dysfunctional family. The other gods would listen to him most of the time, but all of the Greek gods tend to work against one-another (some more than others).
Thebans would have worshiped Athena, Dionysus and Zeus more than any others. They possibly would have cults to Hera and Demeter as well.
