Good Friday represents the day that Jesus of Nazareth, or Christ Jesus, was put to death. He was put on trial and executed for crimes He didn't commit. This is a somber celebration, a memorial for the pain and suffering He endured. As Christians, we believe that the crimes He died for are our own. He endured the punishment for us.
Easter Sunday represents the day that Christ Jesus returned from the grave. By His on power, He arose from the pits of hell. Again, this was part of the punishment He took upon Himself for our sakes. Because He walked out of His grave, we celebrate in a joyous and festive manner. New clothes are a Christian tradition at Easter, symbolic of a new life and a new body after death.
