Hospitals are important to treat serious illnesses, diseases and disorders of varying types and severity. They also create jobs, and in some cases can provide a safe place for people who are mostly recovered from abuse etc. but are not safe at home or in the community.
So people have easy access to healthcare. Unfortunately, access to healthcare is dwindling. More and more Americans (an estimated 60 million) are finding themselves without insurance, while healthcare costs continue to rise. To save costs without necessarily reducing quality, over 500,000 US residents traveled overseas for medical care in 2007 - and the trend is rising. Cost savings can be as high as 90%. One reason is because hospitals in the US often cost $500 or more per square foot to build, but in many foreign countries they can be built for less than $100 a square foot to state of the art specifications. An estimated 25% of US healthcare workers are foreign nationals, and about the same percentage are doctors who studied and trained overseas, so it's not much of a stretch to consider the next step - medical tourism. Take care when choosing a facilitator, medical team and hospital just as you would for hospitals and medical teams here. Hospitals should be JCI accredited, and as a double-check, visit the US Department of State website for updates on any countries to avoid and other precautions.
Medical crisis and pandemic outbreaks are always on the verge of spreading . When the world was hit back in 2003 by SARS , 800 lives were lost . It is with no doubt we need hospitals and not just buildings with facilities but experienced doctors and nurses which can handle modern machines .
Here are some reasons why we need hospitals :
1. To cure / treat patients regardless of inpatients or outpatients
2. To ensure that people are free / safe from pandemic attacks by distributing vaccines
3. If people in a country were ill , the yield and economic growth of the country will suffer the consequences .
4. Hospitals can conduct research to improve human health eg , finding a cure for cancer
5. Hospitals are training grounds for professionals such as doctors , nurses , pharmacists -Practice makes perfect
6. Medical Universities have their own hospitals , to allow their students to relate what they learn .
7. A country can sustain on its own without depending on other countries for medical supplies in the form of doctors in various fields because they dont need skills from other countries - home born , trained professionals
because everyone is ill at some point in there life lol
Actually in the Middle Ages, hospitals and surgery were very primitive. Their doctors were not certified, and they had no anesthetics, not even ether. It would have been important if they really had hospitals and surgery. Mostly, as far as I have heard, they would do a lot of bloodletting.

Hospitals are also part of public property and need to be protected and preserved so that people can be given proper medical treatment and hospitals can function properly. When hospitals are damaged or their equipment is misused , it is the people who suffer . It is an important civic duty to preserve and protect hospitals
