Who said it was important?

The Bible focuses a lot on the Christians being "one body in Christ". Individualism is not important, it's important to stick together and help each other.

Equality is another matter. The Bible does not say that everybody should be equal. It sais quite the oposite, in fact. It sais that if you don't work, you shall neighter eat bread. Many Christians mean that it is verry wrong to be a Christian and a Socialist. Because the fundemental in the Bible strides most of what Socialism stands for.

(Socialism focuses on equality and individuality)

or alternately:

Individualism is important in Christianity because each person is God's creation, and through the Holy Spirit s/he is endowed with gifts. It is important that each person exercise his/her gifts, because it is how the Holy Spirit is expressed in men and women's lives. Through the full expression of each Christian's gifts, the entire Body of Christ is strengthened and enriched.

Equality is important in Christianity because it prevents abuse of Christians within the Body of Christ. Appropriate Biblical conflict resolution is not possible unless all Christians, regardless of age, gender and relative social position, recognize their accountability to others. Further, God is no "respecter of persons". All people are judged fairly by God, according to the same standard. There is no greater equality in circumstance than being bound by the same rules. This is God's equality for man, one only he can offer with perfect faithfulness.

Socialism is no more Biblically correct than any other political system. We are simply directed not to enter into conflict with authorities, as governments and legitimate authority are instituted through the will of God.
